10 Upcoming Asian BL Dramas 2022 THE DRAMA PARADISE

With BL dramas coming at us every day, it’s clear that we have a lot on our plates.

There are a lot of different flavours on the market, and Boys’ Love content is slowly becoming more popular. Now that KinnPorsche is famous worldwide, the BL genre is seen in a more positive light. The mafia romance is getting a lot of attention because of its daring sexuality and beautiful cinematography.

In short, it’s setting a precedent that’s being felt worldwide and paving the way for more rustic productions in the future. Today’s article will talk about some of the most-anticipated BL releases in the next few months. So fasten your seatbelts because we will take you on a wild ride!

1. Love Mechanics

We TV Thailand just put out the trailer for this long-awaited drama, which is probably the most anticipated Thai BL ever. This version of “En of Love: Love Mechanics” is a longer improvisation of the angsty romance between the main characters, Mark (War Wanarat) and Vee (Yin Anan). It is an extended version of the 2020 miniseries “En of Love: Love Mechanics,” with four episodes. Studio Wabi Sabi tried to adapt popular author Faddist’s books in a small-scale movie called “En of Love.”

Even though TOSSARA and This Is Love Story were both liked, “Love Mechanics” was a hit because the main couple had such hot chemistry. This, in turn, led to calls for a full-fledged story to be made. As a result, love Mechanics will finally be shown on the big screen after a two-year delay during which the script changed hands and production houses. We don’t know the exact date yet, but we think the show will start in the last week of June.

2. Love in the Air

Love in the Air is the first show Me Mindy has put on this year. It is based on the novels “Love Storm” and “Love Sky” by MAME. The show is based on the “Enemies to Lovers” trope and has rookie actors Fort Thitipong, Peat Wasuthorn, Noeul Nuttarat Tangwai, and Boss Chaikamon in the main roles.

The recently released pilot shows a lot of anger and sensuality, typical of most of Mame’s self-funded productions. We want to know if this show will be as good as “Tharntype: The Series” and “Don’t Say No.” Will the actors’ fresh chemistry bring history to life, or will it be a downer?

3. Ghost Host, Ghost House

The another scary love story (after the recently concluded Something in my Room). Ghost Host, Ghost House has Tod Techit as Kevin and Boy Natthaphon as Pluem. Guide Chavanvit Vongpong, Brook Ruenarom, Incz Lalda Nananukul, and Natty Nathamon Chantraviphat also have roles in the movie. After Love Area Series, this is Tod Techit’s second BL drama, and the idea behind it looks exciting.

The cast and crew of Ghost Host, Ghost House, recently had a blessing ceremony. This is the second show that Vibie Official has made, after the drama “That’s My Candy, The Series,” which is currently airing. The show will debut on the Vibie app, but it is still unclear if it will be available in other countries.

4. War of Y

Copy A Bangkok’s upcoming psychological thriller “War of Y” will feature actors from the popular shows “Y Destiny” and “YYY Series” as well as the leads from the recently finished romantic comedy “Secret Crush on You.” The show will be a harsh and chaotic look at how bad the entertainment industry is. War of Y was directed by Cheewin Thanamin and written by Fluke Teerapat and Tanachot Prapasri.

The main characters, Phee and Dew, are played by Lay Talay Sanguandikul and Muse Nattawit Pewngam (a brand new pairing for Talay, who mostly partners with Yoon Phusanu or Perth Nakhun). Billy Patchanon, Seng Wichai, Heng Asavarid, Gung Kunpong, Korn Kornnarat, Au Nititorn, Milk Natchanon, Winner Tanatat, Win Jirapat, Takizawa Toru, First Piyangkul, Paper Peerada, and Markpoom Phatsanan are among the well-known actors who play supporting roles. Unfortunately, no date has been given yet!

5. Star and Sky: Sky in Your Heart

The second part of the “Star and Sky” duology, “Sky in Your Heart,” will air on June 3. The first part, “Star in My Mind,” starring Joong Archen and Dunk Natachai, has ended the previous week. The story is based on the novel “Star and Sky” (ขั้วฟ้าของผม) by Peachhplease. It follows Nuea’s older brother Khuafah (Mek Jirakit) as he goes to a remote village to do volunteer work. GMMTV just put out the trailer for the show, and it has a similar feel to the drama “A Tale of a Thousand Stars,” which was a surprise hit.

The two main characters, Mek and Mark Jiruntanin (Prince) go well together. If you saw Mek in “The Player,” the TV show he was in that just ended, you will understand the excitement. Mek is a great actor who is good at making people feel all kinds of things, and this show will be no different. Because of how sweet he is with his younger brother, Daonuea, Fah is already a fan favourite, and I’m sure fans of this show can’t wait for the new series to start.

Naito Shuichiro and Seto Toshiki play the main characters, Yanase Jun and Kaneda Yuki. Like its predecessor, this eight-episode miniseries promises an angsty romance, and since it’s a Japanese BL, extra comedy is to be expected. The first episode will air on GagaOOLala on June 17, 2022.

7. Old Fashion Cupcake

Old Fashion Cupcake is based on the manga “Old Fashion Cupcake” (オールドファッションカップケーキ) by Sagan Sagan. It is a light-hearted love story about two office workers who slowly fall in love.

The main characters, Nozue and Togawa, are played by Takeda Kouhei and Kimura Tatsunari. The show is a sweet but sad series that will show all of their complicated relationships. The drama is made by Fuji TV, and Rakuten TV just showed a trailer for it. The plot sounds interesting. No news yet about an international platform!

The leading roles are played by Kusakawa Takuya (Rokkaku from Cherry Magic) and Nishikagi Sho (Hiroto from My Love Mix Up!).

The miniseries, made by TV Tokyo, is a romance between two people of different ages. It focuses on the exciting relationship between the main couple. The first episode will air on July 6, 2022. No news yet about an international platform!

“Papa & Daddy,” a popular family drama from GagaOOLala, will start its second season on August 8, 2022. The first season ended with a cliffhanger: Jimmy, Damian’s oldest son, comes home. Jerry is completely shocked by the news, and Season Two will be about how this shocking news will change their relationship in the future.

Fans of the show really liked how well the main characters, Melvin Sia and Mike Lin, got along. Unfortunately, Mike Lin will not be able to play his role in Season Two because he has other work commitments. So, Chiu Mu Han, who will now play Jerry, has taken his place.
